Making a Difference
Hospice Services

“Our hospice mission is to prevent and relieve suffering for persons at the end of life so they may live as fully and comfortable as possible and to offer continued support to the bereaved.”

HISTORY

The Collins House is named after John Collins, Jr. and his wife, Betsy, who left a charitable remainder unitrust and the Collins’ personal estate to the VNA upon their deaths. Collins’ only stipulation is that the funds be used to cover indigent care in Venango County through hospice services.

We are proud to honor Mr. Collins’ wishes and in doing so, named the hospice  house after the Collins family.

Sole funding for this project is through the Venango VNA Foundation, which receives contributions from our community to support our mission.

WHAT IS HOSPICE?

Hospice Philosophy:  The hospice program is not about dying; it is a system of specialized care that provides support and assistance for the most difficult of journeys, facing one’s own death.  The goals include improving quality of life and maintaining dignity of the individual.

QUALITY OF CARE

Manager Kim Slater Heil RN/BSN states, “With so much uncertainty in our world today, there is one thing that is steadfast and unchanging and that is our commitment to providing the highest quality of care to our hospice patients.”

THE COLLINS HOUSE

The Collins House is a 3-bedroom home that provides a safe and comfortable living environment for end of life care VNA hospice patients.  At the house, each resident has a comfortable living environment in a home-like setting. The house is staffed 24/7 along with the VNA Hospice Interdisciplinary Team providing individualized care to each resident.  At our home, we welcome friends and family to visit their loved one.
